What is DevOps?

It's a cultural practice in an organization by the development team and operations team to use each other's tools, to smooth out the software delivery process.

DevOps CAMS Explained

  • CULTURE

Culture refers to the values, beliefs, and behaviors that shape the way an organization approaches software development and operations. This is crucial for ensuring that everyone is working towards the same goals and that there is a sense of trust and mutual respect between teams.

It's always "People over Process over Tools".

  • AUTOMATION

Automation is another important component of DevOps. It involves the use of tools and processes to automate tasks and workflows in the software development and deployment process. Automation is not also required so, first check with your team if there is a need for automation in workflow then automate accordingly. Automation can help to reduce errors, improve efficiency, and increase the speed and reliability of software releases.

  • MEASUREMENT

Measurement is not just about infrastructure measures it's collecting and analyzing data on the performance and effectiveness of the software development and deployment process. Recovery time and cycle time are obvious but it's equally important to measure and incentivize them. By continuously monitoring and measuring the performance of their systems, organizations can identify and take action on any issues before they become major problems.

  • SHARING

Finally, sharing is about the sharing of knowledge, responsibility, ownership, tools, and practices between developers and operations. This helps to ensure that everyone is working from the same set of best practices and that the entire organization can benefit from the collective expertise of its members and their feedback.
